How a custom pet plush is made, from photo to plush

Turning a few photos into a plush that looks like your pet is real craft. Here's what actually happens between your order and your doorstep.

From photo to pattern

It starts with your photos. A maker studies the proportions (head shape, ear set, body length, tail) and drafts a pattern unique to your pet. This is why breed and photos both matter: the breed sets the starting point, your photos set the specifics.

Hand-sewn and shaped

The pieces are cut and hand-sewn, then stuffed and shaped so the proportions match your pet, not a generic template. Ears are shaped by hand; a face is sculpted to carry the right expression.

Markings are sewn in, panel by panel, using the right coat colors, not printed on. It takes longer, but it's the difference between a real replica and a mass-produced toy.

The proof photo and remakes

Before it ships, the finished plush is photographed and sent to you to approve. If something's off, it gets fixed before it ever leaves the workshop. If the likeness misses after all, a good company remakes it free until it's right.

Handmade takes time (usually about four to six weeks), but you're kept updated along the way, including that approval photo around the halfway mark.

Common questions

About four to six weeks. Each one is made to order by hand, so it isn't instant, but you're updated through production, including a proof photo before it ships.
